IEC Remembers & Honors Jim Howie

Updated: Feb 10, 2023

Jim Howie, a valued member of the IEC and Fort Irwin Community passed away on Saturday, February 5th, 2023. Jim had been battling illness in the hospital over the past few days. We are left heartbroken by the loss and our hearts are with his family at this time.

Jim was a native of Southern California, having grown up in the Compton community of Los Angles, working alongside his father in his construction business - learning the

importance of doing things methodically, carefully, and with quality. This was the brand that Jim represented in his multi-decade career as a construction professional.

For the past 30 years, Jim had dedicated his time and talents to the Fort Irwin Post, that serves as the National Training Center for warfighters across various branches of our armed services. Specifically, Jim led the Job Order Contract (JOC) for various contractors, and for the past 12 years, under the IEC banner, where he personally lived the value and support that the JOC program brings to support the Army's post, and the warfighters it serves. He was regarded as a professional with integrity, expertise, and commitment to all he did. Jim's representation of the client's best interest is one that exemplified IEC's core values and we are grateful for the service he performed as part of the IEC team.

We extend our deep condolences and support to his family (sons Michael and James, and partner Sharon) at this time.
